二、教学步骤（Teaching Procedures)
Step 1: Study the new words and expressions. Explain the Key ones.
1. challenge challenging

2. confuse confusing confused confusion
使糊涂，使迷惑；混淆
confuse A with/and B
Be careful not to confuse quality with quantity.
confusion n. 迷惑；困惑

There is a confusion about what the correct procedure should be.

3. recommend suggest advise
recommend somebody/something 推荐某人/某物
to tell sb that sth is good or useful, or that sb would be suitable for a particular job, etc
Can you recommend a good hotel? 你能给我推荐一家宾馆吗？
recommend (that)… 建议……
I recommend (that) he（should）see a lawyer. 我建议他去见一个律师。
to advise sb to do sth
recommend somebody to do something 建议某人做某事
We’d recommend you to book your flight early.
recommend doing something 建议（某人）做某事
He recommended reading the book before seeing the movie. 他建议在看这部电影之前读这本书。
It is recommended that… 推荐……
It is strongly recommended that the machines should be checked every year.强烈推荐这些机器每年被检查一次。

4. graduate
n. 学位获得者; 毕业生; 研究生 v. 毕业
adj. 已得学位的, 毕业生的, 研究院的
a person who has a university degree: a graduate in history

5. advance advanced
advance vi. 推进，促进；前进
advanced adj. 先进的/ 高级的
having the most modern and recently developed ideas, methods, etc:
in advance 预先，事先 an advanced worker
6. quit
v./n. 离开，放弃，停止，辞职
If I don’t get more money, I’ll quit.
如果我不能挣更多的钱，我会辞职。
He quit the show last year because of bad health.

I’ve quit smoking.

We decided it was time to quit the city.

7. responsible be responsible for

8. schedule
n: 工作计划；日程安排 vt. 安排；预定
ahead of/behind schedule
(=before or after the planned time)
The new bridge has been finished two years ahead of schedule.

9. sign up (for sth)
报名参加课程
I’m thinking of signing up for a yoga course.
Step 2: Read the text for the first time quickly and find the main idea or topic sentence of each paragraph.

Step 3: Read the text again and answer the questions orally. Page 13, Exercise 3 and 4
Step 4: Go through the passage sentence by sentence, asking the students to pay attention to the new words and underline the adjective phrases and adverb phrases.

Key structures
