Who do you prefer, Han Hong or Sun Yue? Let the students enjoy the pictures about the two singers. Then let Ss give their reasons. T: Is Sun Yue beautiful?( Ss: Yes) Have you ever heard of her losing weight? Though she is beautiful, she is not satisfied with her figure. She ever wanted to become slimmer, so she took some weight loss pills .Within 2 months, she lost more than 10 kilograms in weight. She was slimmer, but she also had trouble---she became too weak because of the side effects of weight loss pills. Is Han Hong slim? (Ss: No) Has she ever lost weight? (Ss: No) Do you know why? Let Ss give their own opinions.(Perhaps she feels good.)Sun Yue is slim, but she doesn’t feel good because she wants to be slimmer; Han Hong isn’t slim, but she feels good. Different people have different opinions about looking good or feeling good. 2. Ask: Which do you think is more important, looking good or feeling good? Why? Let Ss give different answers.

Step 2 Presentation Everyone wants to be healthy and attractive. Everyone wants to feel good and look good. What makes one look better and feel better? 1. Get the Ss to answer the question according to the pictures on Page41. 1) Suitable wearing 2) Enough sleep 3) Taking exercise 4) Eating well 2. Now there are four pictures representing four different people’s states of mind. Can you imagine a situation that fits each picture? e.g. Jane is a high school student and she is extremely happy, because she has been admitted to Nanjing University. Tonight her parents will hold a party to celebrate her success and achievements and all her friends and relatives are invited to share her happiness. But now she is at a loss about the clothes she is going to wear tonight. She is confident about everything except her weight. She is constantly worried about being too fat. Now she has spent at least half an hour selecting clothes without success. Ask Ss to follow the example and invent other situations that fit the other pictures. Make sure that all the students participate in the activity. Step 3 Practice 1.Ask Ss to report the other imagined situations. 2. Talk about questions on P41. Step 4 Conclusion 1. T asks: How can we both look good and feel good? Ask the Ss to work in groups to discuss the advice about how to keep fit. The teacher give some suggested measures for the students to stay healthy: 1)Don’t eat junk food. Try and eat a healthy diet. 2)Don’t go to bed too late. Make sure you get sufficient sleep. 3)Get regular exercise. 4)Go to see the doctor if you’re not feeling well. 5)Don’t spend too much time using computers or watching TV, as it is bad for your eyes. 6) Don’t damage your health for a slim and attractive figure. Step 3 Tips on how to use the question tags Read the five points in this part to learn about different ways to form question tags. 1. Generally speaking, after negative statements, the ordinary interrogative is used, while after affirmative statements, the negative interrogative is used. And we use auxiliary verbs, modal verbs or be in their proper forms to form a question tag. For example, You didn’t see him at the party, did you? 2.When the main clause of the sentence begins with I/we think/suppose/ guess/expect /imagine /believe and is followed by an object clause introduced by that, the question tag is like this: I guess they haven’t heard about our plan, have they? I don’t think John went back home early last night, did he? Note: She thinks that Tom will pass the exam, doesn’t she? 3. Note the question tags in sentences with ’s or ’d. You’d watch the football match rather than go shopping, wouldn’t you? He’d phoned you before you left, hadn’t he? She’s a very good doctor, isn’t she? He’s been in hospital for two days, hasn’t he? 1.反意疑问句是疑问句的一种,基本结构是“陈述句+简略问句”。 (1)肯定陈述句+ 否定问句 (2)否定陈述句+ 肯定问句 Note:陈述句中含有否定词never, no , none, nobody, no one, nothing, nowhere, few, little, rarely, seldom, barely, scarcely,hardly等时, 简略问句用肯定形式。 陈述句中只是有带否定前缀(im- , un-, il-, dis-)或后缀(-less)的词时,简略问句仍用否定形式。e.g Neither of them can speak French, can they? Seldom does he have lunch at school, does he? He’s unable to finish his homework on his own, isn’t he? 2. 相关链接: (1)一般情况下,当陈述句部分是主从复合句时,简略问句的主语和谓语动词与主句的主语和谓语动词一致。 (2)当陈述句部分属于否定前移情况时,简略问句的主语和谓语与从句的主谓语一致,而且要把否定考虑在内。 (3)对“否定陈述句+ 肯定句”回答时,注意其形式和汉语意译。 -I don’t believe you are serious in your studies, are you? –Yes, I am.(不,我认真。) –No, I am not. (5)含有ought to 的反意疑问句,陈述部分是肯定的, 疑问部分用shouldn't / oughtn't +主语。 He ought to know what to do, oughtn't he? / shouldn't he? (6)陈述部分的谓语是used to 时,疑问部分用didn't +主语或 usedn't +主语。 He used to take pictures there, didn't he? / usedn't he? Note: There used to be an old temple, wasn’t there? (7) 陈述部分有must 的疑问句,疑问部分根据实际情况而定。 must在表\"推测\"时,根据其推测的情况来确定反意疑问句。 It must be going to rain tomorrow, won't it? He must be a doctor, isn't he? You must have studied English for three years, haven't you? He must have finished it yesterday, didn't he? (8) 感叹句中,疑问部分用be +主语。 What colours, aren't they? What a smell, isn't it? (9) 陈述部分由neither… nor, either… or 连接的并列主语时, 疑问部分根据其实际逻辑意义而定。 Neither you nor I am an engineer, are we?

(10)陈述部分主语是指示代词或不定代词everything, nothing, this, that时疑问部分主语用it,当是these

(11) 陈述部分为主语从句或并列复合句,疑问部分有三种情况: a.并列复合句疑问部分,谓语动词根据邻近从句的谓语而定。 She is a good girl, but she had a shortcoming, didn’t she?
