摘要：A hand-held labeler (20) has a gear driven (46, 47, 48, 49) print head (24)wherein the print head is mounted for straight line movement on an upper housingsection (23) and the print head is actuated (28) from a lower housing section (22). Theupper housing section can be moved to an open position without interfering with themaintenance of the drive connection with the print head or the advance of a label
carrying web through the labeler. A tension spring (150) connects the print head (24) withthe upper housing section (22) to urge the print head to its initial position against a boss(38') when the upper housing section is in the open position. When the upper housingportion is closed the gear drive (46-49) cams the print head exactly into its initial position.
