2.Brainstorming

Quickly ask questions about their feelings on different kinds of music and movies.

Asking:Do you like action movies?Why?

What do you think of quiet music?How about jazz?

3.Ask pairs of students to read aloud or role-play the conversation in 2d. Step 2 Cooperative inquiry 1.Finish the task in 3a

①Help the students to warm up by showing a picture of the teacher having a class and talking about his own feeling about being an English teacher.Use the structure “make sb.do sth.” and “make sb.+adj.”

②Show pictures which express power,money and fame.Ask for the students' feeling about them.

③Look at the picture and ask:Who is the man?Do you think he is happy?Have the students read the article quickly.And answer the questions.

④Ask one student to read the first question in the right top box.And get the class to read the first and the second paragraphs.And then ask the question and the class answer it.And so they deal with the left part.

⑤The teacher tells the story with pictures,body language and exaggerated

expressions.Teach the new language points.

2.Finish the task in 3b

①Read the instructions.Get the students to read the passage with these questions. ②Find the words or phrases in the article which have the same meanings. ③Get the students to make new sentences with these words or phrases. 3.Finish the task in 3c

①Divide the class into small groups.Give each student a role.And then get the students to read and discuss the story.Prepare for role-playing.

②Work in groups and ask one or two groups to report to the class. 4.Finish Grammar Focus

①Ask students to read aloud the sentences in the grammar frame.And four students write them on the blackboard.

②Find out the words following “make” and the phrases after the person.Learn the structures.Remind the students of the infinitive “do”,not “to do” and the adjectives are about the persons,not the things.

③Get the students to find the sentences with these structures in the passage in 3a.Then make their own sentences.

5.Finish the task in 4a

①Students read the passage to learn the main ideas of the diary.Do not fill in the blanks this time.

②Get the students to read and fill in the blank this time.But do not waste too much time.

③Get the students to read carefully again and check their filling work.Learn these phrases:to start with,cloudy and grey,hand back,…

6.Finish the task in 4b

① Show the chart and ask two students:What makes you happy?And get them to fill their answers in the chart.Then read the conversation in the box with another two students.

②Students work in groups of three.Write down their sentences in the exercise-book.

③Interview other partners in another group.Practice the conversations. Step 3 Homework
